Camera Tripod Sunpak

Photograph of the delivery room. Should I use a flash?
A quick question if I have a new camera at the time our baby arrive in three weeks. Or if you can not talk my wife into getting one at all! But I have here a Canon S5 with a flash Sunpak (costs about $ 150, but not so pleasant). I need some nice photos in the delivery room, after she gives birth. Should I use the flash? If so, what priority (speed shutter or aperture) should have the camera? The flash tilts of course, but can not turn from side to side. So I point the flash upward, 45 degrees or 90 degrees? Please use the flash, you should shoot everything in auto mode on a tripod timer /? Could not even have to ask the right questions. Obviously I'm an amateur. Any pointers are appreciated. Why use a tripod to the question? Again … beginner questions!
I shot both of my daughters first at different times but using the same type of SLR cameras flash Sunpak (mine is 383 – very nice unit for a price). try to bounce the flash. How many degrees? Depends on how to shoot. Try to tilt so that the light hits the ceiling, do not look degrees – look where the light is going to hit. Try not flashpoint things in strange colors and / or mirrors. That tends to produce light much fun to be "fun" to correct later. If you must point directly, use the lowest setting. I'm not sure you have Sunpak Flash and how it is controlled. Mine has separate manual mode, three automatic modes. Green, yellow and red. Green is the lowest energy and requires maximum openness, or higher ISO. Use it if you must point directly. Set the calculator on the flash (if available) to the ISO you are using, and show you what opening to put in auto mode Flash mode. Otherwise look up the values in the table in the back of your flash or in the manual. The shutter speed does not matter, as long as is below the fastest speed that the timing of the shutter. You must be sure in 1/100th of a second or so. The camera, obviously must be in manual control. It provides for the opening that requires the flash mode and shutter speed enough quick to remove most of the available light, but not too fast for the shutter timing. Your flash will use its onboard sensors to determine the amount of light to extinguish. Whether the point the flash directly or bounce – the sensor automatically adjust the power depending on the amount of light returning from the field. Before coming to experience the delivery room with the flash at home. They feel comfortable with it. Know your ISO + + open shutter speed for each flash mode in advance. Try to shoot in conditions close to the delivery room. That's pretty tight quarters, and the dim light available, but possible, a center of attention. Arriving delivery room, try doing a few test shots and rebound both directly to see how to get out and make final adjustments. You must have your camera when it's standing time, no time for adjustments, then! As for not using the flash – I'm afraid S5 have to dump the ISO to the values that produce more digital noise utility in an image. So unless you get an SLR, probably better than not even trying. Again – try at home. See how come … No experiment in the delivery room. There is too much at stake to begin treating there. They come ready and know exactly how they will shoot. Because, believe me, when the time comes to take the camera, your head will be full of other things. You should know how to work that, almost instinctively, at that time. All decisions must have been made in advance. Practice, practice, practice first! Good luck and congratulations for the great time coming! LEM.
