Canon Camera Flashes
What is the difference between red-eye corr. and red-eye in the lamp a Canon Digital Camera?
Also, I have both of the above on and my subjects often still get red eyes – am I doing something wrong? I usually get a couple of flashes to reduce red eye, but my camera does not seem to do that … Any advice? It's a Canon Ixus 82IS. Thanks
Red eye is caused by the beams that flash in the eye and is reflected in the back of the eyeball. The red-eye lamp (or pre-flash when you use that), works by making people get smaller iris in response to bright light. This can reduce red eye, but rarely completely prevents it. The red-eye correction function for the color in the red colors found around the non-red part. None of these solutions are great, but with a small camera when the flash is physically close to the lens there is little choice but to use both.
