Which digital camera?
I have read various conflicting reviews and none the wiser therefore re. best digital camera for under 250 pounds.For example one magazine suggests the Fuji Finepix F30 at 88% but a review section on internet mentions it has consistent minor purple blurring on results! I want high quality photos for display on computer then project onto large overhead screen for showing to large audience. Ideally also good battery length and video but in importance its picture quality for display. Thank you for your time.
The big problem with a lot of the reviews is they are written by nerdy types who spot things no normal person would! Fuji make damn good Digital Cameras I have had a F610 6MP 3X optical zoom for about three years and taken some great pictures. I also have a Ricoh Caplio R5 7MP which is extremely good for outdoor shots it has a 7X optical zoom and goes back to a very wide angle for panorama’s, but its crap for taking snaps with flash indoors!
So the answer is to decide what it has to do and make sure it will do it. Read the specs for the camera you fancy and if it will do what you need then, as someone else suggested, download some of the pictures from the manufacturers web site and test them out.
A good lens is vital it does not matter how many mega pixels it has if the lens is cheap you will get poor shots. Any camera from the well known makers (who made cameras before digital) should have a good lens. Pick one with 5MP or more and you will get great pictures for screen display. Ignore digital zoom its a waste of time and with 5MP and above you will get a better picture by zooming in afterwards on your PC.
Next, a sensible bit of software to adjust the colour/contrast and do some cropping etc is essential, Photo-shop Elements is probably the best for us mortals and it wont cost you the earth.
Finally just remember that when you project the pictures that if the projector has poor colour handling then all your hard work could be wasted! So try them out and maybe give your pictures adjustments to suit the projector (many make the colour look ‘washed out’), same goes for your monitor!
