Digital Camera Noise
My new camera is making a weird clicking noise, is this normal?
I just bought a Canon SD 1000 digital camera and when i zoom al lthe way out on it or take a picture, it makes this weird clicking/scratching noise. Is this something I should be concerned about and what should I do with the camera?
I doubt if there is anything wrong with it. I have a slightly older SD model and it also makes some strange noises (and it’s perfectly fine). The zooming mechanism is fairly quiet…but when you half press the shutter button to lock in the focus, it does make a sort of clicking/scratching sound like you describe. As far as I know, it’s just the normal sound of the auto-focus working.
But, if you are still not convinced, then maybe you should take your camera back to where you bought it, and let them have a listen to the sound it makes. I would also suggest that you check out the store’s own display camera so that you can listen to the sound it makes…just to be sure. If your camera sounds much worse, then obviously a return is warranted.
