What is the real answer to Vista vs XP driver issues?
I love Vistas features and user friendly applications. I however am getting very frustrated with it not recognizing things via USB like my other PC that has XP. It does recognize it’s plugged in, but never finds drivers to run it.
An example is I purchased a 2GB Verbatim USB storage unit that won’t work. I tried going to Verbatims website for support; but no help there. I also have the same issue with my Kodak camera. I don’t have or there isn’t a Disc for either device (there are others too I haven’t listed)
So what are we supposed to do; wait for Microsoft to have windows updates to fix.

Microsoft isn’t going to write drivers for any hardware, except their own. Before you buy anything new, check to be sure that Vista drivers exist for it.
Any hardware sold before Vista came out, the manufacturer may or may not write drivers. I had to buy a new scanner, because the manufacturer will not write drivers to support the old one in Vista.
If you have hardware that you can’t do without and can’t replace, consider dual booting Vista and XP.
New Kodak Printer & Kodak Cartridges

The new Kodak printer and Kodak cartridges are rated as four or five star product by many customers. However there are certain customers who have given them a lower rating, and have pointed out multiple problems and negative points associated with them. Many customers have complained that the computer does not boot up into Windows XP, if the printer is already connected. Hence, the printer has to be disconnected before turning the computer on. I could give a better recommendation had Kodak itself, through its tech support, at least have provided me with some competent assistance.”
Some customers have faced difficulties in making the printer recognize the camera. The mechanism of paper handling is often considered defective due to which the papers often get stuck in the tray. Customers complain that the user manual contains minimal instructions that do not serve to provide adequate guidance for using the machine. Some users complain that the pack of cartridges does not print as many pictures as promised, which results in the wastage of sheets. Many users are of the view that the cartridges should be sold individually.
