Kodak Camera Z1485
Any kodak or any photographers out there? Need help!!?
So I have this project due in a week and I haven’t been able to take good pictures of my subject. I have a $200 digiatal camera, it’s apoint and shoot one. It’s not the super complex bulky one that professionals have. It’s a Kodak EasyShare Z1485 IS. I’m trying to get pictures of my pet cat. But I’m getting alot of the gold/green glowing eyes. I’ve been shooting pictures inside and my cat doesnt like the outdoors. Any help to improve? I also am trying to figure out how to take depth of field pictures on this camera. Anyone know?
Use the flash and stick in front of it a piece of white paper or tape to soften the light.
Use the Manual exposure Mode and use an aperture of f/2.8 and shutter speed 1/500 sec or similar.
Use ISO from 100 to 400.
That way the only light source will be the softened flash light and with the short shutter speed you avoid blurring.
The ONLY WAY TO CONTROL DEPTH OF FIELD IS TO CHANGE APERTURE. Nor the shutter speed nor the ISO affect depth of field. For a given focal length, bigger f/number (smaller aperture) equals deeper depth of field.
For EXTENDED depth of field on your camera, don´t worry; all compact cameras have very deep depth of field even at large apertures (small f/numbers).
If on the other hand you need SHALLOW depth of field (blurred background and sharp subject), unfortunately you CAN´T do it with a compact. The Laws of Physics are against you on this. You are going to need a camera with a larger sensor (SLR).
The way to acchieve large depth of field with 35mm SLR or larger format cameras (image sharp from foreground to infinity) is to use an equation to calculate the distance at which to focus and set the right f/number.
But for such small sensors the depth of field essentially extends from a few cm in front of your lens to infinity, even at f/2.8.
Go at smaller apertures and your lens becomes diffraction limited, that is, diffraction deteriorates the image quality.
In essence, your 14mp compact is only useful at f/2.8 before diffraction softens the image (strong marketing figures though).
