Can I meet my old Nikon lenses on a new Digital Camera with or without an adapter?

The lenses I have are: Nikon 70-210mm f/4-5.6 AF D Zoom-Nikkor Nikon AF 35-70mm f/2.8D Can be adapted to a new Nikon digital camera? If so, what models? Also, is it possible that somehow the use of an adapter to put them in the Cannon Digital Rebel XT? Thank you.

I currently have my old Nikon AF lenses used successfully on my D50, D70 and D200 without any problem. The only exceptions to this rule would present the full compatibility of the D40, D40x or D60, since it lacks the internal autofocus motor and should be approached manually. Now, my TV is the choice over older Nikon 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 AF Nikkor. There are zero problems with my current digital compatibility. This is one of the Nikon's strong points, as there is a longer history of support for just about any other DSLR manufacturer. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility-lens.htm http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility.htm Just a reminder, with the exception of the new D3, with its full-frame sensor, all other Nikon digital SLRs have a factor of 1.5 crop, giving effectively their lenses of different perspectives in the digital world. His 70-210mm becomes a 105-315mm and 35-70mm becomes a 53-105mm. Regarding your last question, yes, You can use an adapter to "Canon" XT. Hope this helps.

Advice On Purchasing A Good SLR Camera

If you are serious about capturing the best photos possible whether it be for a personal or business requirement then you will need the right tool to do so.  SLR cameras are the devices of choice when it comes to taking pictures that capture the moment as you see it.  With a wide variety of SLR cameras on the market it can be daunting choosing the right brand and model, especially if you are new to the camera market. Below I will cover some of the most important facts that you need to know about slr cameras.

The 2 types of viewfinder available.

With the advent of digital technology taking hold of the camera market you will find there are basically 2 types of slr camera available for purchase.  On one hand toy have models whereby you view the target via an eyepiece whereby what you see is the actual image seen with the naked eye, these models are increasingly common as well as popular. On the other hand you have models that still use an eyepiece but the target image viewed is processed via an integrated lcd.  These integrsated lcd viewfinders consume power and in lower quality models lead to falsifying the resulting pictures compared to standard view models that don’t incorporate lcd technology.  For many it’s important that they see the image seen by the naked eye to get the best results possible. Slr cameras models such as the Nikon D1 series and Kodak slr range have models to suit those that wish to do without the lcd viewfinder.

With or without interchangeable lens?

You will find that slr cameras at the lower price point do not allow for interchangeable lenses, but the zoom function may accept an accessory lens that can be attached on to the front of the camera.  If you are looking to take some seriously professional pictures such as those taken by journalists and sport photographers then there are 3 features you need to consider.  These are as follows:

  • Burst Rate
  • Capacity
  • Latent Period

Burst rate is important in determining how many shots the camera will allow you to take in rapid succession.  As a guideline 3fps is considered a minimum for professional use.  Capacity refers tohow much the camera can store before it needs to process the information giving to it.  Latent period is time it takes for the photos to be written to the camera memory shortly after the capacity has been used.
