What site would be of great help to me in comparing the Nikon D90 with the Nikon D700?
I thought I had decided that he was sure I wanted to save to buy the Nikon D700, but the Nikon D90 comes in package deal a much lower price at this time at Costco. I wonder if there is a site you can visit where I could run down the differences between these two cameras to see if he'd ever even use, or understand how to use the extras on the D700. Thank you. Silly question. I do not know what "noise" refers to in terms of photography. Can anyone explain why that matters?:) I suppose that means they have no use for a high end camera and do not know much about the operation – but I am considering taking some classes after purchase.
Lisa, the D700 is a fantastic camera, but with a very big learning curve for a beginner. There are big differences, but in my humble opinion be better served by the excellent D90. The big advantage for a beginner's camera is the mode dial, the top model in Nikon (D200, D300, D700, D3 and D3x) no. At the top models, has a selection dial to S (Shutter Priority), A (aperture priority), P (program mode), & M (configuration manual). With experience and training, one can do wonders in this range. However, in the "prosumer" level camera like the D40, D60, D80 and Wonderful D90 has more presets to help. The D90 with modes of action, portrait, landscape, close up, without flash, and night portrait. These settings allow you to capture the images you want as soon as you turn the camera, and yet flexible enough to grow with you. Compare the controls and buttons here.
