Nikon Camera Timeline

Have you ever had a dig Nikon. Warranty question?
I have a Nikon D70s, if I'm getting an error message. The camera is warenty and still be sent, this is my question. Sometimes companies will send you a new product or refurbed previously when you are making a warenty collection. Does anyone know how Nikon works in this situation? Also the lens has fallen and there is one NIC in the lens, isn't bad, since it only manifests in a few photos. Would you like the camera? The camera has no physical damage and hasent been dropped. I am wondering if you just send me a new camera therefore I should send in the lens. Anybody know what kind of timeline or how long you should wait for a replacement? Any suggestions would be great
I recently sent one of my D100 for a firmware update. (The same camera) returned in nearly new condition. They did a great job. Send only the camera. Remove the battery, memory card and put the lid of the camera body. Write Nikon and get all the information about the destination and a RMA number (or whatever they use for warranty work), package and ship it insured for replacement value. DSLR's are not replaced by cameras reforming. You get your own back. I have my camera back in about two weeks (ten working days).
